Each year instead of loading the landfill with the skeletons of Christmas past, why not return it to the environment?

Christmas tree chipping has become a part of the annual holiday tradition for the Bowie Police Department, offering residents a chance to dispose of their trees without burdening our local landfill.  We bring the chipper in the day after Christmas and continue to accept trees for one week after the first of the new year.  Wood chips from the recycled trees can be used to make mulch for use on a variety of projects both private and public.  The mulch can be taken away, free of charge, to anyone who would like to have some.

We will have a spot marked off within the police department parking lot.  Residents can drop off their trees any time, day or night, and we will be glad to dispose of it.  We do ask that you remove any metal stands or metal objects from the tree before leaving it to be recycled.
